cocaine bar25.08.2009 "The waiter arrives at the table, lowers the tray and places an empty black CD case in the middle of the table. Next to the CD case are two straws and two little black packets. He is so casual he might as well be delivering a sandwich and fries.""We had some Australians; they stayed here for four days. They would take turns sleeping and the only time they left was to go to the ATM," says Roberto, who has worked at Route 36 (in its various locations) for the last six months. Behind the bar, he goes back to casually slicing straws into neat 8cm lengths."http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/aug/19/bolivia-cocaine-bar-route-36 |
grings11.08.2009 spotted on psfk. bit like waterworld, when dirt is uber-valuable and everyone drinks their own piss. for people who live in metropolitan built up areas where greenery is more scarce, this range of jewelery requires nurturing from the wearer and questions the 'value' of materials (it's the end of the day and i can't really be bothered to get into a massive VALUE discussion). xhttp://hafsteinnjuliusson.com/index.php?/projects/growing-jewelry/ |
hf pe11.08.2009 been meaning to post about this for a couple of weeks now and i keep forgetting. a new book from Hiroshi Fujiwara outlining his 'personal effects'. looks like it's basically a round up of his mountains upon mountains of stuff including cameras, music, watches, clothes and probably his many collaborations with fragment, affa, goodenough, etc. i find it quite interesting that a book like this can be published, as his popularity has peaked over the last few years or at least reached more western fans recently for being the tastemaker that he is, and i suppose this is the equivalent of a celebrity cookbook or something. it also follows a recent autobiography a few months back which i saw in tower records in shibuya (would have bought it but it was entirely in japanese with no pictures). this book looks like it's bilingual from these images from honeyee.it's mad, cos i want to buy it so i can see all of these things. really it's nothing more than a very curated catalogue but that is interesting in itself. in fact it kind of reminds me of all the image blogs and 'streetwear' blogs floating about and how all of the images and information get copied and recycled. something like this starts to work like an annual of all this 'stuff', much like the ALL GONE books by La MJC and Colette. hmmmm....http://www.amazon.co.jp/Personal-Effects-%E8%97%A4%E5%8E%9F-%E3%83%92%E3%83%AD%E3%82%B7/dp/4838720130 |
need. this. in. my. life.06.08.2009 what is most interesting about this beautiful hoax product from a few months back is that, due to overwhelming demand from punters, ThinkGeek is having to consider actually making this for real. whether or not they'll get permission from lucasfilm is another story. if thet make them = i will buy one. reminds me of Ora-Ito's method of self promotion in the early days. like a DIY voting mash-up. xhttp://www.thinkgeek.com/stuff/41/tauntaun.html |
fuck me31.07.2009 oh, my god... i just visited the website for this brand after posting the link.* You feel a certain kinship with our straight up, no mucking around philosophy of pristine drinking water and would like to display it proudly in your shop/café/corner store/dining experience. * You are a media-type person who would like to be a little more informed about what makes us and our refreshingly clean and tasty water tick. have i missed something... surely this is a joke and i've just wasted two blog posts on this tripe. surely? xhttp://bollocks.shite/cock/ |
water, water, all around, and not a drop that's not bullshit31.07.2009 i just saw this blogpost on coolhunting and it riled a few of my feathers (i don't have many).read this: "Aussie-based water bottling operation Another Bloody Water brings some serious sass to the table. Their disregard for overly pretentious competitors shows in everything from their irreverent name to their simplistic design (consisting of a dazzling palette of white, gray and black) and the oft-acerbic commentary on their blog. Down with the flowery language. Down with the Caribbean vistas. It's just bloody water. Thankfully their low-brow attitude doesn't translate to a low-quality product. ABW's water comes from a single, natural spring water aquifer located deep in the Victorian Alps. The upshot is clean water, unpolluted by the taint of civilization and extremely low in sodium, which magnifies its thirst-quenching power." now, surely the second paragraph is "overly pretentious" (unpolluted by the taint of civilization...magnifies its thirst-quenching power), uses "flowery language" (natural spring water aquifer located deep..) and comes close to referencing something along the lines of "Caribbean vistas" (Victorian Alps). what say you? to me this brand (in order to work according to this article) would need to forget about sourcing mineral water altogether and just bottle tap water à la Coca-Cola. i'm not going to rant on... bull shithttp://www.anotherbloodywater.com.au |
