A sculptural collection pushing the boundaries of design and textiles, combining a variety of different media to create an innovative material.

Rock Steady Easy’s starting point began from a recent trip to Shanghai. I based my collection around the developing skyline, from the empty shells of completed but not yet inhabited buildings to the skeletons of the complex framework. I transferred these aesthetics to the forms, shapes and colours found within key pad buttons and the three dimensional qualities of vacuumed packaging.

In response to this I have created a sculptural collection through pushing the boundaries of design and textiles, combining a variety of different media to create an innovative material. Through this cross disciplined approach I have researched materials that are not typically associated to textiles but yet can still be incorporated harmoniously with fabric. These can then be moulded and manipulated into three dimensional objects that synthesize with my initial concept of different heights within developing buildings of the Shanghai skyline.
